Body Awareness and Movement Help Refugees to Thrive instead of Just Survive

High incidence of trauma among refugees has significant effects on their cognitive development, personal growth and academic achievement. Given the epidemic of trauma among refugees in the region, it is encouraging that the Dutch minister Sigrid Kaag has highlighted the importance of mental wellbeing in development in her policy paper, especially among girls and women.

Given the huge extent, the depth and it’s great consequences for the future generations and host societies, it is crucial that policy makers opt for effective approaches in expelling the terror of trauma from the bodies and minds of trauma survivors.
